It is our goal at Lake in the Hills Elementary to create a learning environment in which all students are given the tools to become successful members of society. In doing so, all students will reach their full potential as learners in an environment that both nurtures and fosters the whole child and the learning process. We are committed to making a difference in the lives of all of our students.

HATS OFF TO LAKE IN THE HILLS ELEMENTARY

Students and staff members raised $750.67 on Friday, October 14^th for the Heavenly Hats Foundation. Our school goal was $650. This foundation supports patients with cancer who have lost their hair.  Heavenly Hats Foundation buys each cancer patient a new hat to wear.  To date, 1,000,000 brand new hats have been purchased by this organization which is run by all volunteers so that 100% of the proceeds are to benefit the patients.  Students and staff contributed $1.00 on Friday to wear their favorite hat to school.  Many students even chose to contribute an extra $1.00 for friends who forgot to bring in a dollar.  Since we met our goal two staff members agreed to have their heads shaved. Mr. Didricksen and Mr. Adam left the assembly bald as a result! Then we had a whole school hat parade to showcase all of the creative hats!  As you can see from the pictures, students and staff members were very creative in their hat choices!  During the hat parade, Lake in the Hills students and staff members also carried posters, with special messages to loved ones who are currently fighting cancer or who have lost their battle to cancer.  Way to go Lake in the Hills Elementary!  I am so proud of all of you.
